About Us
If you are looking for a place where young artists can fulfill their dreams, it all begins with the College of Creative Artsa unique place to call home.
Our College is made up of the Divisions of Art & Design, Music, and Theatre and Dance: three professionally accredited and nationally recognized programs in the Arts. With more than 100 faculty and staff and nearly 800 students, our place is small enough to give you intimate classes, one-on-one instruction, and a close community of friends in your area of study.
It’s our passion to provide you with a place where young artists forge a personal understanding between artistic practice and theory, and form personal and professional insights that explore and expand the nature of human creativity. Combining performance and education that address both traditional and innovative approaches to Art, Design, Music, Theatre, and Dance, our community members gain a greater understanding of the arts—and, in turn, themselves. While practicing and making “art”, we advocate its life-long appreciation, understanding, and involvement as a way in which the diversity of human experience is expressed, examined, and valued.
West Virginia University continues to be ranked among the major research universities, and it offers unparalleled regional resources to help young artists fulfill their dreams. As a key part of the University, the College of Creative Arts (and the Creative Arts Center which houses it) have become a national and international resource noted for the exchange, creative collaboration, research, publication, and presentation of the visual and performing arts.
