Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre Performers and Presenters Guidelines
The College of Creative Arts provides the following guidelines so that your event will be a positive experience for everyone involved. We ask your assistance in following these guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort, and to minimize insurance liability issues while you are using the Clay Theatre and its support facilities.

- Performers and presenters will have access to the Clay Theatre only during the times scheduled at booking. The Operations Office must approve any additional time requested, to insure that the Theatre is ready for use and that the operations staff is available.
- No food or drink is allowed on stage or in the house area of the Theatre.
- Water is allowed in squeeze bottles only.
- Children should not be left unattended at any time.
- Children are not allowed on stage unless they are part of the performance.
- For liability and safety reasons, the Operations staff must be informed in advance if guests will be attending a rehearsal.
- Performers, presenters, and guests should refrain from placing their shoes on the house seats.
- No camera stands are allowed in the Theatre during public performances.
- Photography and videotaping are allowed during rehearsals and performances, if prior arrangements have been made with the Operations staff.
- For safety reasons, performersand presenters must leave the stage area as quickly and safely as possible following their performance. All “after show greetings” must be held in the Main Lobby.
- During rehearsals, performers should enter and exit the Clay Theatre from the back stage area. The lobby entrances are not to be used for this purpose, as this presents opportunities for unauthorized individuals to gain inappropriate access to the rehearsal.
- To insure that a given production or rehearsal is ready for public presentation to an audience, the Clay Theatre Operations staff will be responsible for opening the Theatre to the public.
- In productions that utilize the cyclorama, all crossovers must be accomplished by use of the adjacent back hallway.
- A clear path must be maintained to all exit doorways.
- The onstage fire curtain line must be kept clear of equipment at all times.
- When the dance floor is in use, only individuals in flat-soled shoes will be permitted access to the floor area.
- Presenters and performers must submit a written equipment list two weeks in advance of the production to ensure that all requested equipment is available or so that arrangements can be made for substitute equipment.
- No Clay Theatre equipment may leave the Theatre without proper approval of the Operations staff.
- Each group should collect its own trash.
